Hi,

I can see what you mean, but I'd say this particular phrase has a DELIBERATE double meaning and isn't a mistranslation by Jeremy, both meanings being:

1) as you said "one puts his gun to the jowl and starts to target at his aim"

2) as Jeremy has it "I begin to bake" as in "I begin to bake (in the sun/heat) not bake as in cooking. The reason I think this is that the first line is "Ich bin in Hitze schon seit Tagen" translated as "I've been in heat for days"

so my point is, that Till has used his mastery of puns and double meanings to good effect.

but the thought of Till being a hunter, seeing his prey, then just making a cake is a very funny image xD

I really appreciate the very good and professional translations of the Rammstein lyrics on this site, but I guess concerning "Waidmannsheil" there is a mistake:
The German words "ich backe an" are translated to "I begin to bake". The German word "backe/Backe" can be translated to "to bake" (1st person) as well as "jowl" or "cheek". The translator is right to some respect, "anbacken" (the infinitive of "backe an") mostly refers to something regarding to baking ("start baking", "slightly baking", "putting together by baking"), but there is also a special meaning used by hunters. Then it means that one puts his gun to the jowl and starts to target at his aim. And I'm quiete sure, that Till is not going to bake a cake deep in the forest, but is going to shoot the game... Snooty
But beside that - great job by Jeremy Williams!
