Rammstein chat with Paul

October 26, 2005

That chat is over! Many interesting questions were asked and answers were provided. It has been confirmed that Rosenrot will be Rammstein's second single from the new album and Mann gegen Mann the third, with Jonas Åkerlund directing the video for the latter. A transcript can be found in the press section.

"Hilf mir" and Struwwelpeter

October 25, 2005

Not only has Till tackled Goethe and the Brothers Grimm on the new album, it appears he has also taken inspiration from another literary source. Der Struwwelpeter is a book written by Heinrich Hoffmann, originally published in 1845. It is an illustrated collection of stories intended for children, though many of them are somewhat gruesome, similar to the original versions of the stories from the Brothers Grimm.

The lyrics in the sample of "Hilf mir" posted yesterday mirror the first paragraph of the story "Die gar traurige Geschichte mit dem Feuerzeug" almost word for word, but told from the child's perspective. In the Struwwelpeter version, the girl lights a match and burns to ashes as her cats cry for help (after, of course, ignoring their pleading that she leave the matches alone). It will be interesting to see what changes have been made in Rammstein's version!

The official Rosenrot Ecard has been released which includes new pictures of the band and several samples from the new Rammstein album. Though they are shorter than those in the Rosenrot Player from yesterday, a small part of the song "Rosenrot" itself can be heard, as well as a different part of "Te quiero puta!".

Rosenrot single cover

October 20, 2005

Rammstein - RosenrotAccording to the fansite Rammstein.it, this is the cover of the upcoming Rammstein single, Rosenrot, which they have obtained from Universal Music Italy. It seems plausible as the source image is definitely from the Rosenrot photo shoots!

Foreign release dates for Rosenrot

October 19, 2005

The release dates outside of Germany for the new Rammstein album have been published on the official site. Most countries are either October 28 or 31 - depending on whether the respective country releases new music on Fridays or Mondays - with a few exceptions. Australia will get Rosenrot on November 6, New Zealand and Lebanon on November 7, and Canada has to wait all the way until December 6. The US and Japan are listed as "to be announced", meaning the release dates there have not yet been confirmed, though I imagine the US will get the album about the same time as Canada. If you can't wait that long, be sure to order Rosenrot online!

There will also be several Rosenrot release parties in Germany and one in Switzerland where you can listen to the album and even buy it at midnight on the eve of its release.

New singles confirmed

October 19, 2005

The UK version of Benzin allows those that purchase it to view the full video for "Benzin" and a clip of "Sonne" from the upcoming DVD on RosenrotUK.com (though shorter clips of both are available to all). The info page there confirms that both "Mann gegen Mann" and "Rosenrot" are lined up to become singles. Before Benzin was released, it was rumored that two videos were filmed at the same time, so it could be that "Mann gegen Mann" ends up as the third single instead of the second.

New video

October 13, 2005

As previously reported, Rammstein have filmed a new video, the second from their upcoming album Rosenrot. According to the Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet, Jonas Åkerlund was the director for Mann gegen Mann. The video is supposed to be hard and about "men on the edge of homosexuality". No word yet on when the new single or video will be released.

Jonas Åkerlund has previously worked with such artists as Madonna, U2, Rolling Stones and more.

Comet 2005 results

October 6, 2005

Rammstein have just won the Comet for "Best video" with "Keine Lust". They were not there, but Paul sent in a video to accept the award. Interestingly, he said they couldn't be there because they are about to film a video. So, it sounds like the next video is already on the way!

Update: Rammstein did not win in the "Best live act" category. The award went to Silbermond.

"Te quiero puta!" chorus

October 5, 2005

Rammstein recently met with journalists in Paris to promote Rosenrot (preorder now). A writer from Mariskalrock.com was there and the site has published what they claim to be the chorus to "Te quiero puta!". This marks the first time that Rammstein has sung in Spanish!

Vamos, vamos mi amor
Me gusta mucho tu sabor
No tu corazón
Mucho tu limón
Dame de tu fruta
Vamos, mi amor
Te quiero, puta
Entre tus piernas voy a llorar
Feliz y triste voy a estar
Más por favor
Más, sí señor
Come on, come on my love
I really like your flavor
But not your heart
Really like your lemon
Give me your fruit
Come on, my love
I love you, bitch
I am going to cry between your legs
I am going to be happy and sad
More please
More, yes sir

Thanks to: e_onfire, Carlos.

Tracklisting change

October 3, 2005

Universal-rock.de has posted the tracklisting for Rosenrot, and it is slightly different than what Universal.dk posted. It may be final, but it still could change.

First off,  the order is the same, but "Ein Lied" is missing, making only 10 tracks. Since it is already known that there will be at least one limited edition, perhaps it will show up there.

"Stirb nicht vor mir" is still listed along with an English name but now it is "Don't die before I do". This removes the ambiguity of "Don't die before me", as "before me" can either be temporal or spatial (before I do / in front of me).

In addition, the tracklisting revealed that the track features Sharleen Spiteri, who fronts the band Texas. As she is Scottish, that may explain the English title since she would probably sing in English.

Thanks to: Herz aus Stein.
